The Bureau of Mines Dew Point Tester is a primary instrument used to measure the moisture content in any gas. It is rugged, portable, and can provide repeatable results to within 0.2F. Because of its primary nature, it requires no calibration. Consequently, it is frequently used to verify the results of less reliable electronic instruments. This is a chilled mirror device which operates by achieving the conditions required by the definition of dew point; when a gas is cooled out of contact with liquid water, content remains constant but the percentage saturation increases until it reaches 100 percent and moisture begins to condense. The temperature at this point is known as the dew point. The Bureau of Mines Dew Point Tester consists of a small high pressure chamber (5000 PSI max) through which the gas sample flows. A polished mirror is at one end of the chamber and a viewing window at the other. The operator throttles an expandable gas through a valve--cooling the polished mirror until the dew point is observed. The temperature and pressure are then recorded and plotted on a graph to obtain the water content of the sample. Hydrocarbon dewpoints can be obtained by using the same method. This instrument is offered with a wide range of thermometers in english and metric units. The thermometers are filled with a biodegradable liquid, thus eliminating safety concerns of mercury and conforming to the ASTM DO1142 code. Our ChanScope version has a digital readout using a platinum RTD. Features Primary method of moisture or hydrocarbon dew point measurement Temperature range of -100°C to 93°C (-148°F to +200°F) Pressure range 0-5000 psig (352 kg / cm2) Optional Certificate of Traceability to NIST Instantaneous digital readout using the ChanScope version Meets ASTM DO1142 and NGAA 2140 Benefits Portable and rugged for repeatable results with easy to use operation Nothing to calibrate No cells to get contaminated Minimum instructions for use Applications Natural Gas - This Dew Point Tester is designed for accuracy in the rugged environment typically found in the gas industry. A special model is available for offshore use. Sour Gas Internal materials are used which are more resistant to corrosion in the H2S atmosphere. Industrial Gases - The tester is ideally suited for the measurement of the dew point of pressurized N2, O2,H2, A, air and other bottled gases. Heat Treating Furnaces - The Chandler instrument is easy to use and produces reliable, accurate answers. They have been used for years in this application. Options Pressure Range - Models are available in ranges of 1000, 3000, or 5000 psig Regular Chiller - uses propane -31C (-20F) or carbon dioxide -62C (-80F) as a refrigerant. Its geometry optimizes thermal uniformity for superior control and accurate determination. Quick Chiller - uses the same expandable gases but directs them on the back of the polished mirror. Fast reaction time is achieved, but there is an increased risk of over shooting the dewpoint until all components reach thermal equilibrium. Liquid Nitrogen Chiller - uses an emersion rod and dewar flask containing N2 for temperatures down to -130C (-200F). Temperatures of -75C (-100F) can be obtained using this device with dry ice and acetone. Thermometers - a wide range of thermometers is available in centigrade or fahrenheit including certified thermometers traceable to NIST. Digital Readout - The ChanScope version allows lighted, magnified viewing of the dewpoint with a digital temperature readout superimposed on the viewing window in tenths of a degree. This model utilizes an accurate platinum RTD (resistance temperature detector) and LED readout to give the operator instantaneous feedback during a test. The original ChanScope set the standard for accurate, easy to use chilled mirror instrumentation for measuring the dew-point of hydrocarbon and/or water in a gas. With the NEW Chanscope II, we have raised the expectation bar again with added functionality and improvements. Specifications API Gravity (Typically Supplied) 4-Jar System
